The black turtleneck is an iconic look. I’m not going to say who, but many guys, especially those that are less fashion-inclined, tend to associate a sleek black turtleneck or black mock-neck with a certain tech visionary. Ok it’s Steve Jobs.
The reality is, a black turtleneck is an extremely sleek piece that can instantly provide a “buttoned-up” look, without, well, a button-up.
So how can you rock a black turtleneck without looking like Steve Jobs…
Step 1: Wear a black turtleneck
Step 2: Don’t wear roundish wire-framed glasses.
*If you’re here because you’re trying to figure out a Steve Jobs halloween costume, then repeat the steps, but do the opposite of Step number two, and stop here.
So now you’re all set on not looking like Steve Jobs. But here are some additional notes:
If you’re wearing a turtleneck with thinner material, it can be a bit of a bare look. If you’d like to avoid that, you may consider layering up, whether that means a sport coat, trench coat, scarf, leather jacket, jean jacket, bomber...aka anything. If you’re rocking a chunkier knit that presents more of a full look and you may be less inclined to layer.

P.S. Apologies if I’ve offended any Archer fans. Similar step-by-step coming on tactle-necks in both black and a slightly darker shade of black.
